About Margie Davidson
"Colour is the most important design element for me when creating my own artwork and when viewing visual art of any media. Playing and experimenting with colour as I discharge print or paint fabric is an important part of my creative process. Each summer I turn my backyard into a studio space and joyfully paint fabric 'en plein air'."
Margie is a quilt artist and surface designer. Her love of colour is joyfully expressed through the fabrics she paints and the quilts she creates.
Margie is an entertaining speaker and a supportive instructor. She loves teaching quilters and enjoys sharing ideas about colour theory and design principles to encourage the creation of individual quilts in her classes. Margie taught children and adults at the Art Gallery of Alberta where she was employed as an educator for 6 years.
Margie received awards in the Canadian Quilters Association National Juried Show in 2000 and 2004. Her art quits have been exhibited in local and national shows across Canada as well as in Ireland and the United States. Judging the National Juried Show was the highlight of her Quilt Canada experience in Ottawa in 2006. Margie has continued to be involved with CQA/ACC by teaching in St Johns in 2008 and judging the NJS and teaching in Saskatoon in 2009.
