Cottonwood Stand Detail

In Chetwynd, in northern British Columbia, a walk in the cottonwood forest is a feast for the eyes, ears, and nose. The shimmery yellow cottonwood leaves contrast sharply with the dark, thickly-creviced tree trunks. The chickadees flit and call. And the forest smells like a sweet, yet earthy, perfume.
The whole quilt surface is filled with finely-cut confetti from scraps of fabric. It is heavily stitched to intensify the colour and add leafy details.
