This piece began as an exploration of Ruth McDowell’s piecing methods. I chose a simple subject and isolated it, wanting to focus on the branch’s integral beauty. By making the leaves appear ‘larger than life’ I was able to highlight the many colour variations in this single branch of leaves.
Techniques: machine pieced, hand appliquéd and machine quilted.
