In the summer of 2002, drought and excessive heat devastated the pastures and hay of Saskatchewan and Alberta. Farmers in the Maritimes donated feed and arranged to ship these bales by rail across the country to the starving livestock in the West. They named it “Hay West”. Although they couldn’t ship enough hay to solve the problem, their kindness embarrassed the Federal government into developing an assistance program. This is my “Thank you”.
