In 1988, after a career in Commercial art and Painting, I discovered quilting – now I combine my two loves: painting and quilting.
‘A Blizzard Vancouver Style’ is an original drawing on fabric that was painted with procion dyes and then overlaid with fabrics.
This is the third quilt made with the theme of Snow Geese. These geese have fascinated me ever since I first saw them on the Delta of the Fraser River. I thought it was a field covered with snow. Imagine my surprise when they the field suddenly erupted into these beautiful white birds, in full flight. I must say, “This is snow I like”.
Techniques: procion dye painted on white cotton with grey tulle and Angelina fibres. Machine appliqué and machine quilting.
