Touque (tuk) noun--A neat word for a hat, eh? Touque is a truly Canadian word for a knitted hat, an indispensable item in the Canadian winter.
What fun to create these colourful touques in fabric! I could go on and on. At the suggestion of my small quilting group, I replaced one touque with another, in the colours of the Hudson Bay Company. The ‘Bay’ has been a historic institution (at least it used to be). Now I have a spare touque for when it really gets cold up here.
Techniques: hand appliqué with 3 dimensional stuffing, machine quilted, fabric painting, braiding, distressing and hand embroidery with hundreds of colonial knots and other embellishments
