In my creative response to the tragic events of September 11th, it was important to include reference to Samuel Barber’s Adagio For Strings. The Adagio speaks to the very spiritual core of my being – excruciating in both its beauty and its profound sadness. As I worked on this quilt, I discovered that the Adagio is in fact Barber’s Opus 11 – hence the title.
