The first thought that came to mind for me when hearing "from away" was the stream of correspondence that would flow between loved ones parted. This created a perfect opportunity to use family letters, not just for content but for the beauty of the design patterns of the handwritten form. The floating letters and figures are like a palimpsest of personal history.
