Waiting for Ice presents a view of Lake Isle, Alberta in the late autumn just after the first snow of the year. Though this first dusting melts completely, the grass now lies dormant and the reeds wait silently for the lake to freeze. On the distant shore, the trees also watch in silence for the blanket of winter to form. This is the path of the ancients: slumber before renewal.
