Glorious Nasturtiumswas designed after observing a vibrant grouping of nasturtiums in a neighbor's garden. I dyed a variety of silk fabrics in one batch. The silk chiffon, china silk, silk crepe de chine, and silk charmeuse each exhibited subtle variations of hue. Dark, hand-dyed sateen was chosen for the background to further highlight these luminous blossoms.
Glorious Nasturtiums was juried in to the 2013 National Juried Show at Quilt Canada. This piece was recently displayed at Van Dusen Gardens gallery in Vancouver, B.C.
