Being Canadian I think about the maple leaf, of trees found east to west and the symbol on our national flag. Growing up in Eastern Ontario we boiled the sap from the sugar maple to make syrup. The rich gold to bright red of the fall colours was amazing. On the West Coast, I am equally amazed at the Japanese maples which also blaze with colour in the fall. Techniques: I screened the leaf outline over the leaf shapes cut from my hand-dyed fabric. The quilting was done in a simplified maple leaf shape.
