Janet has been a painter and a plant person for most of her life. She is happiest when her hands are working and wet. She loves the feel and textures of fabrics.  Inspired by plant forms she uses natural and repurposed textiles starting with white silk, linen, or cotton fabrics. She paints and dyes original patterns onto the fabrics and then uses hand and machine stitch to layer her images. Curves rather than straight lines dominate her intuitive designs.  

She gardens and creates, always keeping in mind the kindest ways she can work sustainably with living things.  Her goal in life is to help viewers to notice the beauty of the natural world around us.
