I see myself as a story teller, relating past events, recording new beginnings, always challenging myself to find the freshness in what is new and the inner beauty of the old and decayed. My work often expresses how nature plays such an important part in our everyday lives. I am fascinated by the beauty and forceful way natural occurrences change and manipulate both the historic and the new.
As a teller of stories, I invite the viewer into the art work to imagine or recall a story from their personal or cultural experiences, the story and the art then become one. The idea of reflection, meditation, using hand stitching, are ways I challenge the viewer to form their own ideas and thoughts, to see and experience a sense of respect, a feeling of personal place. My focus is to capture the essence of the mood and the unique combination of images created by nature and mankind. .
Techniques: Hand stitched embroidery on 100% woolen repurposed blanket patches.
