This experimental series of panels was inspired by dust storms in the 1930s which were reported to be up to a mile high. Soil from the western prairies was deposited as far away as New York State. These catastrophic storms brought ruin to many western farmers, but prompted great innovations in farming practices that are still in use today.
Materials/processes: Discharged cotton fabrics, acrylic paints, polyester felt backing, bleach, Ph neutralizer, fusible web. Discharge patterned by a self-developed value mapping system. Mounted, ready to hang.
