"Bad Moon Rising" was selected to be inclued in "Fly Me to the Moon", a collection of 179 art quilts celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first moon walk. This project was conceived and organized by Susanne Jones. Each quilt is 18 by 30 inches. The collection will travel for the next four years (2016 to 2020) to a variety of venues. Artist statement: The still, dark forest waits under the brooding purple sky. Slowly, silently, the swollen orange moon rises, casting a ghostly glow on the tips of the trees. The magic of the full moon transforms the night.
Techniques: I took a photo of the full moon, then used the computer to create a posterized image. Constructed using fused raw-edge applique. Machine quilted.
