A workshop with South African teacher Rosalie Dace was the inspiration for this lively piece. Friendship Star and Drunkard's Path blocked were "jazzed" up with improvisional cutting, stitching and slashing. The result is a medley of rhythms and harmonies with an unusual and unexpected accent here and there. Fabrics originating from various regions of the world are arranged in a vertical African orientation and stitched randomly by a normally subdued, traditional Canadian quilter. Commercial and hand dyed fabrics are machine stitched and machine quilted with hand embroidered embellishment.
