About Shel Hein

Shel Hein Though Shel started sewing at a young age, she did not start quilting until 2002. However, she found traditional quilting techniques unfulfilling, leading to several unfinished projects. The light bulb came on when Shel found the Quilting Arts magazine in a bookstore and discovered the world of fabric art. That bulb turned out to be very bright! Shel’s first creation was for the magazine’s “Friendship and Devotion” challenge, and her piece was chosen to be on the title page of the challenge section of the Feb/Mar 2014 issue.
Shel is part of the Program Committee for her local quilt guild, and is a member of FAN and SAQA. She is actively feeding her creative squirrel with her fabric art creations, searching for her artistic voice by constantly trying new styles and techniques.
