About Margaret Jessop

Margaret Jessop is a art quilter who lives and works in Calgary, AB with her husband, Dale. She received her B.A. from the University of Calgary and after raising four children, went to the Alberta College of Art & Design to earn her B.F.A. majoring in Fibre Arts.
Margaret is a member of FAN, SAQA, and CQA, as well as many guilds. She has participated and won prizes in many shows and exhibitions. She has been juried into the Canadian Quilt Association and the International Quilt Show in Houston. In 2016, she was named Quilter of Distinction at the Festival of Quilts in Calgary.
Margaret’s work is very personal; it is based on her family, friends, and favourite places. She is known for her cheery and inventive quilts, bright colours and unique style. She likes trying new techniques and her work is always evolving. Other creative pursuits include felting, knitting, weaving, pottery and stained glass.
Margaret is constantly acquiring new skills by travelling and learning from international teachers, particularly her mentor, Susan Carlson. She teaches her techniques as well as her own all over Canada and has recently started developing her own patterns.
