About Victoria Gray

Victoria has been quilting for over 30 years, starting when she lived in Ontario and spent winters in New York State. She began with traditional quilts which she still enjoys creating using original designs. She has dabbled in fabric dyeing, discharge and resist dyeing, sun printing and fabric painting. More recently she has explored art quilts and experimented with thread work and machine quilting techniques. But her first love is appliqué which she incorporates into almost all her pieces.
Over the years, Vicki has taken workshops with renowned quilters such as Ruth McDowell, Jane Sassaman, Jo Diggs, Elly Sienkiewicz, Katie Pasquini Masopust, Gloria Loughman and Gabrielle Swain, to name a few. She embraces traditional work, still hand quilting weekly with her local hospital auxiliary but is always pushing herself in attempting new techniques, products and media. Her pleasure comes from learning and creating as evident in her constantly progressive methods and original designs.
Victoria's work has been displayed nationally and internationally in juried and judged shows. She has won awards at shows presented by the Association of Pacific Northwest Quilters, The Appliqué Society, Kamloops Arts Council, Quilting in the Mountains (Sun Peaks) and her local Sagebrush Quilters Guild. She is also a multiple award winner of the Trend-Tex Challenge of the Canadian Quilters Association. Her work has been juried into other shows including the Grand National (Waterloo, ON), several National Juried Shows of the CQA and the American Quilters Society (Paducah). She has also exhibited in several shows of the Fibre Art Network.
Quilting and fibre art of all types are a passion for Victoria. She greatly admires and appreciates the work of others. Nary a day goes by that she doesn't pick up needle and thread in an effort to feed her passion and take her work to a new level.
