About Caron Dubnick

Caron Dubnick I live on Lac La Ronge in Northern Saskatchewan, where access to the boreal landscape is immediate and constant. My artwork arises always from the sensory pleasure I take from my environment, and my desire to reimmerse myself in things that have moved me: colors, textures and contrasts; light, weather and moods; grand vistas and easily overlooked detail.

Since the summer of 2015 I live in a burn. I strive to communicate the rugged beauty I see in a burn, the stark and linear shapes, the vibrant colour of new growth, the sculptural features revealed, and the contrasts in a charred forest.

Fabric work excites me for its textural effects, and the much more kinesthetic and tactile way of working. I love to dye my own fabric for use in these pieces.
