The RCMP and their predecessor, the North-West Mounted Police (NWMP) kept the peace in the Canadian Wild West with very few men. Today, the RCMP provides contract policing for smaller communities like mine, that lack their own police force. This ‘thin red line’ is often the only feasible law enforcement option and provides a tangible Hope for peace in remote areas. I also admire their expertise and red regalia as they perform on horseback.
