Making Light
Artwork by Judy Villett
Transience
This powerful sky began as the background for many vees of flying geese seen over the Canadian prairie just as evening and a spring storm descended. The sky took over, with a special collection of large scale prints cut into 3 squares and visually blended on a design wall to create the illusion of light. Transience was designed
and constructed during my first winter in Vancouver. There was a period of almost one month with no sun, when every break in the clouds was precious.
It is a very symbolic piece for me: day to night, winter to spring, light to dark, clear to storm, warm to cold..changes in nature and the human condition.
