FISHIN’ BUDS

$300.00

22.75" W x 31" L

This piece was completed after taking a class with Gloria Loughman using techniques in her book "Radiant Landscapes".  During class we spent time talking about balance, harmony, contrast, movement, depth, reflection, temperature, and so on.  The use of fabric tiles over a contrasting background was an interesting adventure.  Of course, a sunset or sunrise seemed the perfect choice for this piece I called "Fishin" Buds".  My color scheme was chosen to emphasize the brillance of the early morning sun on the water.  The silhouettes remind me of the many 4 a.m. fishing excurtions we have enjoyed throughout the years.

Methods/techniques/materials:  quilting cottons and batiks were used.   Raw edge applique was used on all the tile pieces, mountains, islands, boat and figures.  Domestic machine quilting was done to represent the water and mountains and to outline the tiles.  Paint Stiks were used for lumination.
