While hiking on Castle Mountain in southern British Columbia, a friend was climbing over a rise and happened upon a group of mountain goats.  She quickly reached for her cell phone and photographed these animals before the reclining ones were alerted to her presence.  This magical scene depicts them shedding their winter coats and caring for a newborn.

Materials: Felted wool roving; artist’s hand-dyed cottons

Techniques: hand and machine appliqué; extensive thread painting and quilting
