After an enjoyable summer of dyeing a wide range of coloured cottons, I wanted to create an art piece to showcase these fabrics.  My design was inspired by a number of photos and sketches of croton plants I’ve observed on annual trips to Hawaii.  The leaves of this intriguing plant often seem to fan out in an ‘explosion of exuberance’.

Exuberance was awarded First Prize in the Art-Abstract-Wall category at the 2017 Canadian Quilters’ Association National Juried Show. Exuberance was juried in to the ‘World of Beauty’ show at the 2018 International Quilt  Association in Houston, Texas where it was awarded Third Place in the Naturescapes category.
