A relentless search for food in an inhospitable, windy, arctic environment characterizes the life of a polar bear. This mama and cub are hunkered down out of the wind trying to avoid being eaten by a hungry male. The bears are made from felted wool. The background is cotton, wool, silk and polyester. This quilt was inspired by a photograph I took in Churchill, Manitoba.
