Dr. Cynthia Stratulat is an artist-academic engaged in a relationship with textiles. As a weaver and fibre dyer Cynthia reimagines traditional weaving techniques bridging classical design principles with contemporary improvisation. Honouring a 30 year vocation teaching the dramatic arts, Cynthia sculpts her woven fabric, balancing the intersection of costume and couture through texture, colour, and form, exploring ways of being and narrating the essence of experience and fantasia through three-dimensional cloth-making. Cynthia’s woven sculptures have exhibited in galleries in Alberta and across Canada.
