About Janet Finch
I am a textile artist working with silk fusion, quilting, and many other forms of media using textiles and fibre. I started my career as a Home Economics teacher and then my own sewing school business in my home studio when my children were young. I was often teaching three generations and up to 60 students in any one week to sew, quilt, and explore textile arts. After 50 years of teaching, I now only enjoy teaching the occasional workshop or class for the guild, art centre, or another quilt business.
After retiring from my business, I have enjoyed painting weekly with the Alberni Valley Wednesday Painters and have learned from very amazing teachers we have brought in to be comfortable using acrylic, oil, wastercolour, and pencil crayon media. I do participate in community art exhibitions with many media, however, I am most happy when the pieces I enter are textile.
I am currently enjoying many of the wonderful online courses in the fibre arts and puttering away in my studio getting work done for some upcoming shows this year.
