Cam Cam
This work explores shape and movement using an intuitive approach -- working without a plan and finding inspiration for the next step as the work progresses. Various techniques were used to explore and embellish the simple cam-like shape: free-form stamping with paint, masking/feather painting, machine appliqu, raw edge machine stitching, ~big stitch hand stitching, and fringing. Some of the same techniques were applied to the complementary checkerboard and dot designs. The movement for the lines of stitching was suggested by the relationship of the painted shapes.
