Canadian Expressions

Artwork by Kristin Rohr

Floodplain 2

The Canadian landscape is a confluence of man-made and natural features that create an entrancing mix of flowing and geometric patterns. Dramatic seasonal changes on the prairies have their own extreme beauty and hazards as melt water is released from the frozen land.
The Inspiration for this piece was an aerial photo taken on a flight from Calgary, Alberta.
Techniques: Hand-dyed and painted fabric, machine: piecing, reverse appliqu and quilting.
