Leaves in Transition: Stamped

$350

Being of that certain age, our discussion spiraled around change and transitions. We talked about the constraints and expectations of youth, the limitations of working and raising children, and how the shedding of responsibilities as we move into retirement is freeing, even though our aging bodies often set limits on what we want or are able to do. We chose hand painted fabric that had been rusted which we feels represents aging and deterioration. As well, both pieces of fabric have hatch and lines which represent the cages of youth. The transition of leaves though the seasons, time and space are symbolic of the inevitability of the life cycle. Their floating through space is reminiscent of the unstructured days of the elderly and reminds us that we must devise our own purpose and meaningful activities on a daily basis.Because we live close to one another, our conversations took place in person, so we do not have any record of what we actual said, but feel this description summarizes our ramblings.
