This quilt was inspired by watching the ice hockey practices of my five year old grandson. Here in Western Canada where the winter weather dips regularly below freezing young people learn to skate at an early age. Hockey is played in arenas, on outdoor rinks, frozen rivers and ponds, and even on the street. It is truly a passion.
I took many photographs of his team and amalgamated them into one design. Then using paint, pencil crayons and embroidery I hand stitched the quilt and hand quilted the subject matter before machine quilting the background
