Pelicans at the Weir Waves

$500

Each spring American Pelicans return to this site; flying, swimming, and fishing in the water at the weir on the South Saskatchewan River located in Saskatoon. This quilt portrays these birds in the natural beauty of the landscape. It shows the power and force of the water as it rushes over the weir and becomes a churning, roaring, mass of swirling liquid; only to calm again into quiet waves as the current pushes the water onward. It depicts the outcome, when man's concrete construction is pitted against nature's powerful element, water: a temporary disturbance.
