Canadian Content

We often dont recognize our own prejudices. These two faces appeared unexpectedly as I worked on other quilt projects. The grimly glaring visage emerged from an abstract design being sewn in fabrics that mimicked corroded metals. The stoic and solemn face suddenly looked out at me from a colourful crazy-quilt design. I combined the two faces for my Canadian Content entry, though the corrosive damage inflicted by prejudice is certainly not limited to Canada.
Techniques: Piecing, appliqu, quilting by hand and machine.
Materials: Hand-dyed, commercial, and ethnic cotton fabrics.
