Altered Shapes

Stepping Stones 1 was designed from a photograph. This piece uses many techniques that I have not utilized in the past. Therefore, it was named Stepping Stones I as it seems like a new step in my creative development. I feel this piece is a transitional work.

There is some machine piecing, but most of the rocks were appliqud and stuffed by hand. The machine lace was added as I did the appliqu, although I had prepared it in advance. When the work was finished, I added paint to create the effects that I desired. This is the first fibre work that I have framed. Because it was so small, I decided a frame would enhance it.
