The Mischief Makers

Brown bears are numerous in Western Canada and are well-known for causing damage in camp sites. As a family, we had several experiences with bears while camping in the Western provinces. It seemed natural to create a scene that depicted such an experience.
I enjoy capturing animals in their natural habitat. I used thread work to create the bears, and the trees, shrubs and plants. On one large tree, I used an empty needle to create the illusion of bark. All of the fabric except the lace was hand-painted, and paintsticks were used extensively to create dimension.
