Papel Picado is a triptych, inspired by a photograph taken by the artist in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Papel Picado translates as 'cut paper'. The paper versions are considered a traditional folk art in Mexico and are commonly used as decorations for festive celebrations. Colorful weatherproof versions are often seen strung between buildings in the streets of Mexican towns. Papel Picado is included in THREEFOLD: The Art of the Triptych, an exhibit by Mountain Art Quilters of Asheville NC.
