Victoria Gray

The use of bold images, colours and stripes used in the works of Picasso and other artists seen at a flea market on the outskirts of Paris were the inspiration for this portrait. This abstract piece, unlike my usual realistic portrayals, afforded a good opportunity to stretch my imagination and to dig into my stash of black and white striped fabrics. The stark lines are softened with padding and a linen background.

Hand needleturn appliqué, machine satin stitching, padding, machine quilting.

This piece was juried into the CQA National Juried Show, Halifax, NS, 2012.
