Prairie Mosaic – Artwork Exchange

by | Apr 17, 2022 | Conference, Winnipeg MB | 7 comments

The FAN Conference Committee for 2022 thanks Jaynie Himsl and Michelle Craigen (from Saskatchewan) for organizing the Art Exchange.  They have designed the theme and size of this year’s artwork as follows.

Theme:

The prairies are vast, open spaces filled with rich and diverse human and physical resources. They are the ancestral homeland of Indigenous peoples, and the adopted home of countless waves of immigrants and settlers. World events and economic opportunity continue to lure newcomers to join our prairie communities and shape our “prairie mosaic”.  What does “Prairie Mosaic” mean to you?

Size:

Make your interpretation 8”x10”, either orientation, for exchanging at the conference in Winnipeg, September 21 – 24, 2022

The artwork will be collected and hung for display on Wednesday, September 21 as FAN members arrive at the conference.  That evening the artists will have a few minutes to explain their artwork.  Later the artworks will be exchanged to fellow artists.  Participating in this exchange is a fun way to receive artwork from fellow FAN members.  Begin or keep your collection going!  See you at the conference!

HEllo! Do we need to submit pictures of our exchange ahead of time, or just bring them to the conference with us? And if we do have to submit them, to whom are we sending them?

    Thanks!

Go to the Exhibits page – orangey tab on the Members Home Page. There you will find an entry form for Prairie Mosaic to upload your image. This will be used for the Newsletter. Bring the actual piece to the conference for the exchange to take place. There is an article in the August Newsletter on how to do this.

I went on the Exhibits page and can’t find the Prairie Mosaic form to upload a photo. What am I not seeing?

This is the page it is on https://www.fibreartnetwork.com/members/member-exhibits/ On a computer or ipad in horizontal mode the entry is on the right hand side. In portrait mode or a cell phone you need to scroll down past the exhibit posts to see the purple entry form. Where you see a + sign click it to open more information. You will need to submit an Intent to Enter and then wait for it to be approved ( Karlie or I can do that) and then you will see the Entry form. Hope this makes sense!

Okay, so I just wait for approval. Thanks

    Hi Chis,

I’ve had comments from several members that will be making a Journal exchange piece for the conference. They may still be working on it up till the last moment. Could the online entry forms remain open till the end of September to allow them to submit photos of their piece?
