In the fall of 2014, I was exploring my relationship to the land in which I grew up: the Canadian Prairie.  My grandparents were immigrants, and they loved living here. Was my connection to the land was the same as theirs? On a walk through a preserved area of natural prairie, it struck me that the wildness and beauty of this landscape was exactly what they saw when they arrived. In that moment, I realized how precious it was to me too. Aspen Parkland captures the wonder of that moment, and my resolve to become a "Prairie" artist.

Aspen Parkland is currently touring across Canada with The Grand National Fibre Art & Quilting Exhibition. It was used as the promotional image for the exhibition, by the Woodstock Museum National Historic Site.

Method and materials: Wet felting, hand- and machine-needle-felting with hand-dyed wool and bamboo fibre, couching, hand stitching with silk and cotton hand-dyed and commercial threads.
