Barney the Barn Owl was a true labour of love, created during the COVID years, combining both dry and wet felting techiniques. Several pound of wool fibre were painstakingly  needle-felted onto a life-sized wire armature to bring Barney to life. His wings fully extend outward, capturing the grace and presence of a real barn owl. Countless broken needles and pricked fingers became part of the process, but a challenge that was worth the effort. 

I think my next bird will be smaller in stature!
