This was the first piece I ever entered in a national show or competition. When I read about the Generation to Generation travelling show in 1993, I scribbled a thumbnail sketch on a napkin, and from that simple beginning, it has become my favorite piece. It ended up being chosen as one of 12 pieces to tour canada for a year. The fabrics used in the fans and the figures reflect the different generations. My grandmother (on the left) gave me a crazy-pieced quilt made from her children's clothes and hand embroidered by her youngest daughter (one of 15 children), and then I (in the middle) am passing the fiber art tradition on to my daughters. The name came from a romance novel I saw in passing, and knew it would be perfect.
