About Eileen Findlay
Eileen is a retired teacher with a Home Economics background who now enjoys spending time as a textile/fibre artist. Her goal is to continue learning and experimenting with new techniques at her studio in Langley BC.
Artist Statement
The adventure of creating is motivated by a passion for learning new techniques and exploring their possibilities. By immersing myself in a variety of methods and materials, I enjoy the evolution of my artwork, which often takes on political, family, and spiritual dimensions.
With some background in drawing and painting, I am now employing these techniques in my fibre art projects. Other surface design techniques I explore include dyeing, stamping, resists, embellished stitching, beading, foiling, and felting.
Gathering information from inspirational instructors, books, and other resources, and continually being nurtured by my association with talented textile/fibre artists, I am encouraged and challenged to absorb myself in my art.
