Janet Scruggs
About Janet Scruggs
ARTIST STATEMENT:
I draw inspiration from the world around me—both natural and manmade—using textiles as my primary language of expression. A deep curiosity for materials and techniques guides my practice and allows me to fully engage with, and savour, the creative process. My work unfolds as a dialogue with the elements; as I respond to them, the piece often evolves beyond its original intention.
Working across surface design, mixed media, and digital enhancement, I combine hand and machine techniques and incorporate dye, paint, pencil crayon, paper, and found or recycled materials. Each artwork follows its own distinct path, developing organically from an initial idea into a finished work.
