We’re super excited to announce that the conference programme will include a workshop on caribou-hair tufting by talented northern artist Amanda Baton. Amanda lives in Somba K’e, Denendeh. She is a Sahtúot’ine Dene and German self-taught artist coming from a long line of creatives. She started her art journey as a beader, making beautiful beaded earrings and adding other materials more recently.
In the workshop we will learn to tuft with caribou hair by working on a pair of earrings. Amanda will provide all materials. For more on Amanda Baton’s work and bio see https://www.nwtarts.com/search/artists/amanda-baton . Prepare to be amazed!
Do we know what the cost of this workshop?
Wow, pretty cool. This is definitely a first for me.
Wow, very exciting. I didn’t realize I could be more excited about having the FAN conference in Yellowknife.
This sounds great! Looking forward to the full experience of Yellowknife!
Looking forward to the workshop, and to the whole conference. Adventure with a capital ‘A’!!!!
Can’t wait. I hope we can master caribou hair tufting while we’re there.
I tried moose hair tufting 45 years ago – hope I’ve improved. It was pretty sad. Can’t wait to try again. Thanks for organizing this.
