Dione van Beynum owns a rare shop to find these days: a bricks-and-mortar needlework shop. Established in 2008, there are lots of fun and interesting – and sometimes rare – supplies to satisfy your inner explorer. Ranging from ordinary embroidery floss to fibres with texture and sparkle, books to spark your interest and creativity, traditional patterns, handy tools and accessories, to hard-to-find silk ribbon, tape lace, and metallic ribbons, this little shop is sure to have something to add to your next creative project!
A lifelong crafter, stitcher, and creator – albeit mostly in a more traditional sense, Dione loves to play with different techniques, stitches, and supplies. She has taken several Embroiderers’ Association of Canada courses, attended their Seminars as both student and vendor, collects books about stitching, and has taught classes both at the shop and at events.
She’ll bring along a selection of novelty fibres, tools and notions, and present a fun and quick make-and-take showcasing some of the more unusual fibres and tools carried at the shop.
