Artwork by Margie Davidson
The circle is one of 5 basic shapes that appear in the art of all cultures. It has no beginning or end. It represents wholeness. The colours and linear aspects of the cloth I created are echoed in aspects of the natural world on Vancouver Island where I live. Seeing the ripples on the water of the Salish sea or the peeling barks of the arbutus trees on my nature walks put me in mind of these artworks and vice versa. It spoke to me of connections.
