How to prepare your canvas:

– Your completed artwork will measure vertically 9-1/2″ wide and 19-1/2″ in length. Please paint canvas with Michael’s Artist’s Loft or Liquitex Medium Viscosity Mars Black acrylic paint. Continue to paint along the edge and back of the wooden frame of the canvas to cover the staples.) (2.54 fl. oz will be plenty for a minimum of 2 coats). As shown:

– To protect the gallery walls, cut (2)18” x 1” and (2) 10” x 1” narrow strips from black felt, glue (we used Golden Heavy Gel Matte medium) the felt starting with the 10” strips on the top and bottom first, then the 18″ strips for the sides (the felt may stretch, if it does, trim it to make sure it doesn’t overlap. Felt should be placed a fraction inside the outer edge of the frame.   The felt strips should cover the entire back of the wooden frame covering the staples. Trim any felt that can be seen from the front.

– Black felt strips

– Make sure the felt doesn’t overlap at the corners.

– Artwork must fill the canvas,

– Leaving a ¼” from the edge of canvas on all sides.

– Edges must be straight.

– Label back of canvas with “Title of piece,” Full Name, your website, and logo if you have one.

– Here is an example of a finished piece

      Good Afternoon Linda,

The intent does not open until Nov. 1/23 – Nov. 30/23, but we wanted to let those who did not
attend the conference know about the upcoming call for entry. Sorry I think that what I wrote wasn’t clear.

      Cheers,
      Sue
