Irises are definitely my favourite perennial and they come in all combinatons of colours, sizes and fragrances. The one I like best is Esther Fay with its soft peach coloured petals and bright orange beard. These irises were a delight to make with their stuffed, 3D petals and stiffened leaves which extend beyond the background.

Hand needleturn appliqué, hand embroidery, hand stitching, machine quilting. Commercial and hand-dyed cottons, embroidery thread. Mounted on fabric covered canvas.
