La Joie

132 cm x 105 cm

“La Joie” is a one-block wonder quilt, meaning that every block is made from the same fabric. The quilt hanging requires seven repeats of the pattern. The fabric is cut into strips which are cut into triangles, after which the blocks are assembled into hexagons, then stitched together, -- one block to the next in columns. Stitching the columns together completes the top layer of the quilt hanging. The standard quilting process ensues from this point. Finally, the binding is made and sewn. The top and bottom edges of the hanging were left in a triangular formation to highlight the triangle base of the quilt blocks.
